SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Heavenly and Northstar resort teams have been working hard all summer and fall to prepare for skiers and riders getting back on snow this season, but Mother Nature had other ideas about their ambitious opening date of November 21.
Winter has been a little late to this year’s party, and neither resort will be opening for traditional slope activities this week. Instead, Heavenly will be running the gondola for sightseeing starting this weekend, along with the Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster for thrills at the top of the mountain. In the Village at Northstar, the ice rink will open at 3 p.m. (weather permitting), and music will be played on the Village Stage from 4-7 p.m. all weekend, in addition to the wide variety of shops and restaurants already open for the season.
Good news for those waiting for snow is that temperatures have been staying low, and some snow has made it into the recent forecast – and the near future looks promising. Heavenly and Northstar operators are making snow at any and every opportunity, as they work hard to get folks skiing and riding soon!
Stay tuned for more information on skiing and riding at Heavenly and Northstar soon! Kirkwood is still targeting Friday, Dec. 5, for their Opening Day, conditions permitting. Their websites are https://www.skiheavenly.com/, https://www.northstarcalifornia.com/ ,.and https://www.kirkwood.com/
