SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Since November 1, the Marcella Foundation has been running its first-ever Holiday Food Drive in South Lake Tahoe. In that time, they have collected and distributed over 3,400 pounds of food back to the community. The response from individuals has been wonderful as folks have donated all types of non-perishable food – peanut butter, pasta, canned meats, sauces, and more. All of this makes a difference, especially now when food benefits have been limited for many community members. The food donations collected in this drive go to many different local organizations that need it, including Christmas Cheer All Year, South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center, Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless, and more.
With food pantries experiencing an increased demand for food, the Marcella Foundation will be extending its Holiday Food Drive until December 12, 2025. This means that individuals can still donate non-perishable goods to one of their collection locations around town:
- Artemis Lakefront Cafe on Ski Run
- Azul Latin Kitchen
- Basecamp Pizza Co.
- Cascade Kitchens
- Cuppa Tahoe
- Desolation Athletic Fitness
- Drink Coffee Do Stuff (SLT Location)
- Ernie’s Coffee Shop
- Fox & Hound Smokehouse Grill & Bar
- Grass Roots Natural Foods
- Idle Hour
- Overland Meat & Seafood Co.
- Sierra Community Church
- South Lake Brewing Co. at the Y
- South Tahoe Crossfit
- Sunrise Ski and Snowboard
- Tahoe Bagel on Kingsbury
- Tahoe Family Hearing Clinic
- Tillman Law Office
- Welcome Home Shoppe
- Whiskey Dicks Saloon
A huge thank you to all these businesses for participating in the food drive and providing support for the food-insecure population during these difficult times. Plus, thank you to the existing 30+ business partners of the Marcella Foundation for donating their surplus food through FeedTahoe year-round. There is no donation too small, and every piece of surplus food is graciously accepted.
Already, the outpouring of support from all corners of South Lake Tahoe has been immense, so the Marcella Foundation is grateful to continue this food drive. The need for food has not disappeared, so please consider donating if you can.
