EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – From now until January 23, 2023, El Dorado County will conduct the Climate Vulnerability Assessment (CVA) public information survey, a chance for people to participate in the updating of the general plan.
El Dorado County is in the process of updating the Public Health, Safety, and Noise Element (Safety Element). The Safety Element is one of the seven mandatory elements of the El Dorado County General Plan. They are required to update the Safety Element after the Housing Element is updated (that was completed in August 2021). The other five required elements of a county’s general plan are Land Use, Open Space, Conservation, Circulation, and Noise.
The Safety Plan will identify climate-related natural, human-caused, and public health hazards that the County is exposed to, as well as confirm how climate change would affect the hazards. The CVA will also describe how climate change and the affected hazards will further impact the County’s socially vulnerable populations, property, critical assets and infrastructure, natural resources, and economic assets. Strategies will then be developed to address the potential climate-related hazard impacts.
Please take a quick (about eight minute) survey so El Dorado County can better understand the climate vulnerabilities within the County and make the Safety Element better: https://bit.ly/3FbHM9v
