
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The last South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting of 2024 will be held on Tuesday, December 10 at 5:30 p.m. in City Council chambers at the airport. The Council’s agenda starts with a Certification of Election Results, Once that is done, City Clerk Susan Blankenship will administer the Oath of Office to newly elected City Councilmembers, Keith Roberts and David Jinkens. The City Council will recognize outgoing Councilmembers Creegan, Middlebrook, and Friedrich.
A new mayor and mayor pro tem for the year 2025 will be selected.
A South Tahoe Refuse rate increase will be discussed and voted on. The city notified property owners and customers at least 45 days before this Public Hearing by mailing written notices of the proposed residential and commercial increase for the solid waste services on October 22, 2024. Proposed is a 3.30% increase for 2025, and a 5.08% for the Senate Bill 1383 program implementation (blue, green, and black carts). Within the City of South Lake Tahoe will increase the cost of STR’s unlimited service for residential customers by $3.46 per month. For commercial customers, the increase will be $3.96 per cubic yard.
Council will vote on amendments to City Council Protocols to (1) update the regular meeting calendar; (2) add the “Key to the City” program; (3) clarify that public comments on the Consent Agenda will be limited to three (3) minutes total per speaker; and (4) adding requirements for recusals and reporting of certain political contributions as required by recent amendments to the Levine Act.
They will also vote on a motion authorizing and directing the Mayor to
execute a Professional Service Agreement with Workbench, in an amount not to exceed $125,000, for the development of preapproved Accessory Dwelling Unit plans to make it easier for those wanting to add to their property.
