Grant funds in the amount of $504,230 were awarded to agencies and groups across rural Nevada to be used to develop, promote and improve tourism to and within the State of Nevada, and some is headed to the South Shore.

The Lake Tahoe Visitor’s Authority (LTVA) was one of 27 in the Reno-Tahoe Territory to get a portion of $132,295 awarded to the area.

LTVA is getting $6,000 for digital advertising and social media for the AMGEN Women’s Cycling Race and a $15,000 grant to promote events through the purchase of
multi-media assets in Northern California for events at South Lake Tahoe including the Harvey’s Outdoor Arena concerts, multi-day festivals at Hard Rock Hotel and a variety of sporting and cultural events next summer.

“The LTVA believes that being a host city to an internationally high profile cycling event raises awareness for the destination, the region and the state as a world-class cycling destination,” they said in their application.

The Tahoe Art League was awarded $1,000 for the annual Artists Studio Tour, and Tahoe Rim Trail will use their $7,500 for a new website.

Sierra Business Council will use their $9,000 grant to hire Strategic Marketing of South Lake Tahoe to develop a return on investment metric model that effectively
identifies the travel spending generated within the entire Sierra Nevada region and Northern Nevada destinations. It will measure economic impact of Geotourism and traveler demographics.

The grants are given to governmental and nonprofit groups in areas outside the Reno-Sparks and Las Vegas metropolitan areas.
