SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – In coordination with the American Red Cross, the City of South Lake Tahoe has opened a partner shelter for anyone impacted by the snowstorm and power outages. The shelter is located at the City’s Recreation and Swim Complex at 1180 Rufus Allen Boulevard and is open to all residents of South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County.
It will be open 24/7 until further notice.
At the Recreation Center, they will offer electrical charging stations, meals, cots, and blankets for overnight stays.
For those wishing to take a bus, Tahoe Transportation District Route 50 stops at US/50 Rufus Allen Blvd., and US/50 San Jose.
Pets: Service animals are permitted at the shelter. The shelter does not allow general household pets. If you have a pet that needs to be sheltered, please contact Tahoe Paws at (775) 721-3647.
COVID-19 Protocols: Masks and temperature checks are required; masks and hand sanitizer will be made available to all shelter clients. Anyone exhibiting symptoms or who is COVID positive will be provided a separate space in the shelter.
