12/17 UPDATE: The individuals involved in the shooting on Dennis Street in Douglas County on Monday have been identified as Kathy Jean Weiland, 63, and Gregory Raymond Ward, 63. Weiland was pronounced dead at the scene and Ward is being treated at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. This is an active homicide investigation and it appears that Ward shot Weiland and then shot himself attempting to commit suicide.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) responded to a report of a man with a gunshot wound on Monday, December 16 at approximately 11:07 a.m. Upon arrival in the 1300 block of Dennis Street in Minden, they found a female deceased from a gunshot wound, and one male unconscious with a gunshot wound.
The unconscious male was taken by ambulance to Renown Medical Center, where he is in critical condition.
“At this time, we believe there is no threat to the community and that all individuals involved have been identified,” said Sheriff Dan Coverley. “The investigation is ongoing and still in the early stages at this time.”
