CARSON CITY, Nev. – Two pickup trucks were stolen from the General Motors dealership in Carson City at 2 a.m. on December 30, each being recovered after high-speed pursuits on Los Angeles freeways.

The dealership notified both the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and California authorities about the stolen vehicles. Shortly thereafter, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) had located the vehicles and were pursuing them.

As CHP attempted to stop the two vehicles, both of them sped away in different directions. This resulted in two separate high-speed pursuits on the freeways and through downtown LA neighborhoods. As of Monday, December 30 when Carson City Sheriff’s created a press release at 5 p.m., both vehicle pursuits had ended without injury to anyone, and the drivers were successfully taken into custody in Los Angeles.

Initial information suggested minor damage to the stolen vehicles and one CHP vehicle damaged. No other damages or injuries were reported to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. The exact times and locations of the pursuits have not been confirmed.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified of the thefts at approximately 10:40 a.m. and patrols immediately responded. Deputies obtained information from the dealership that once the vehicles were realized stolen, the dealership authorities informed California law enforcement agencies. Both vehicles were quickly located southbound on the I-5 Freeway.

Carson City Detectives are investigating this incident. While the suspects have not yet been positively identified, initial reports suggest that the suspects may have been on the Carson City dealership lot on December 29, and may have planned the thefts well before entering the lot on the 30th.
