SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Just before noon Wednesday the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) reopened State Route 89 around Emerald Bay. Snow slides covered the roadway on Monday, forcing the closure of one of two routes between the north and south shores of Lake Tahoe.
Motorists should still use caution when traveling roads in the Sierra as other small snow slides have been reported along Highway 50 at Echo Summit as well as SR89.
