All that has needed to happen for Reno-Tahoe to host a Winter Olympic Games has happened — so far.
There are still many hurdles, most of them political, before the torch will ever be lit at Squaw Valley again.
When the International Olympic Committee and the U.S. Olympic Committee reached a revenue-sharing agreement in May, ending — at least on the surface — years of strained relations, it opened the door for the Lake Tahoe Winter Games Exploratory Committee, a bi-state effort of Nevada and California, and other hopeful U.S. bid cities to at least be more optimistic about the possibilities.
