STATELINE, Nev. – On Friday, November 8, 1991, the Fox & Hound opened its doors for the first time. Fast forward 30 years and the Fox & Hound has transformed from a small local bar into what it is today.
Throughout the years, the Fox & Hound has gone through major renovations; in 2010, it doubled the dining room space, and again in 2016, it doubled the size of the bar. The Fox & Hound has come to be known for their slow-smoked BBQ, among other great dishes such as scratch-made pizza, one of the original items from the 1991 menu. In 2021, the Fox & Hound won Best of Tahoe for “Loosest Slot” which is one of many awards and trophies within the last thirty years.
The Fox & Hound original proprietor Harvey Grime says, “I can’t believe it has been thirty years, I am proud to say that we are still here and hope to see another thirty!”
“I am proud to have my son as a partner,” he added.
Harvey started in the bar business back in the 1970s, opening up the Bitter Creek on the California side behind the Department of Motor Vehicles. Then he moved over to the Nevada side of the lake with Sam’s Place, the Shoals, the Thirsty Duck. And, finally opened the Fox & Hound in 1991.
“We are super excited to celebrate thirty years in business, the last three years have been a challenge, we couldn’t have done it without a great staff over the many years,” said the Fox & Hound’s current proprietor, Matt Grime.
The Fox and Hound Smokehouse Grill & Bar is located at 237 Tramway at Stateline, Nev.
