
TAHOE CITY, Calif. – SR28 is reopened after being closed Tuesday morning following a fatal collision in the westbound lane in Tahoe City.
CHP Truckee reports that at approximately 6:23 a.m., a Kings Beach man was in a utility golf cart belonging to the Tahoe City Downtown Association when he was struck from behind by a 2018 Honda being driven by a Tahoe City resident. The Honda was traveling on SR-28 west of Grove Street at an undetermined rate of speed and the driver failed to see the golf cart in the lane ahead of him. The driver of the Honda was unable to slow down and avoid a collision. The front of the Honda collided with the rear of the golf cart, causing the cart’s driver to be ejected and sustaining fatal injuries.
The Kings Beach man, who was in his 50s, was reportedly watering the plants along the road when he was hit.
Neither person is being identified at this time as the collision is under investigation. Neither drugs nor alcohol appears to be a factor.
