SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – With air quality expected to be in the hazardous range Monday, both Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) and Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) have canceled classes for the day.
LTCC said they have to address some internal air quality issues.
LTUSD issued this statement “In monitoring current air quality readings and looking closely at the forecast for today, September 12, 2022, the district will be closing due to the poor air quality. The AQI is well above 300 across the community with the forecast expected to stay high throughout the day. We will continue to monitor and provide updates as necessary with the hope that we will be in school tomorrow.”
LTUC said they will be closed “to allow the college to continue to address internal air quality standards. Campus services will be available virtually & staff will telecommute for the day.”
