SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Challenge Day organization will be in South Lake Tahoe next week to conduct three-day-long programs at South Tahoe High School (STHS), and community members are needed to help each day.
TASK (The Tahoe Alliance for Safe Kids) has worked with the Lake Tahoe Unified School District to bring the life-changing Challenge days to all 9th graders at South Lake Tahoe High School (STHS) for the second year.
Volunteers for the three days, Monday, September 11 from 8:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 8:15 a.m. – 1:45 p.m., and Wednesday, September 13, 8:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. All freshmen will be going through one of these days and they cannot happen without the amazing community members.
Volunteers do not need any special training and the program is led by professional staff. The volunteers are needed to be there to listen to the youth and help in small groups.
The day-long Challenge Day is an experiential social and emotional learning program for students to ignite a shift toward greater school connection, empathy, and inclusion. Programs feature music and interactive exercises and are led by two energetic, relatable, and highly trained facilitators. The program goes beyond traditional anti-bullying efforts, building empathy and inspiring a school-wide movement of compassion and positive change. The program addresses many common issues seen in most schools such as cliques, gossip, negative judgments, harassment, isolation, stereotypes, intolerance, racism, bullying, violence, suicide, hopelessness, apathy, hidden pressures to create an image, and more. This program sets the framework for discussions and changes for youth to address the above issue and create follow-through at their school.

Challenge Day
Challenge Day is an organization that helps young people learn to connect through powerful, life-changing programs in their schools and communities. The day-long, interactive Challenge Day program provides teens and adults with tools to tear down the walls of separation and inspires participants to live, study, and work in an encouraging environment of acceptance, love, and respect.
Using highly interactive and energetic activities, Challenge Day Leaders guide teens on a carefully designed exploration of the ways people separate from each other, and model tools for creating connection and building community.
Challenge Day programs increase self-esteem, help shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support, and reduce the acceptability of teasing, oppression, and all forms of violence. Our programs inspire youth and communities to Be the Change they wish to see in the world, and challenge others to do the same.
