The South Lake Tahoe City Council and Douglas County Commissioners are pleased to announce their first joint public meeting to be held on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Edgewood Tahoe Conference Room. The public is invited to attend the meeting beginning at 1 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to strengthen partnerships across state lines between the two organizations and among elected officials, discuss opportunities to leverage resources, revitalize the economy and environment in the South Shore community, and improve efficiencies among government agencies, according to a news release.
“This is a historic meeting that will not only forge a new relationship between Douglas County and South Lake Tahoe, it very well could be the new model for the government of the future,” said Douglas County Commissioner Lee Bonner.
“We are excited to discuss a new joint vision for the South Shore with the opportunity to make significant environmental and economic benefits in our communities. Our goal in government is to offer the best, most affordable services we can for the least amount of tax payer dollars. This joint relationship will help us to achieve economy of scale as we work together in the areas that make the most sense,” Bonner said in a news release.
“I am looking forward to this meeting that is long overdue. The City and County have multiple issues that can best be dealt with face to face,” said South Lake Tahoe Mayor Hal Cole in a news release.
