Construction on the Silva Valley interchange project in El Dorado Hills will affect travelers going to and coming from South Lake Tahoe in the late night hours.
All westbound Highway 50 lanes from Bass Lake Road to El Dorado Hills Boulevard are scheduled to be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, Sept. 8-12. The westbound Bass Lake Road on-ramp will close an hour earlier and also reopen at 5 a.m. The following week, Sept. 15-19, the closure will shift to the eastbound lanes, again 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., with the Latrobe Road on-ramp closing at 10 p.m.
During the closures, traffic will be detoured 6.5 miles via El Dorado Hills Boulevard, Serrano Parkway and Bass Lake Road (see attached detour map). Motorists should plan for an additional 10 minutes travel time and use alternate routes if possible. Portable message signs will be used to keep motorists informed of the closures.
Construction on this section of highway started in November of 2013 and is planned to go through 2016. The project is costing $57 million.
