he Washoe County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men today on charges of stealing gifts from generous citizens in the Galena Forest area. The two men have been identified as Sean Madigan, 51, and his son, Depaul Madigan, 22, both of Reno. They are accused of taking Christmas gifts homeowners generously left as a ‘thank you’ for waste services employees.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the theft when several alert citizens called to report the suspicious activity. The homeowners were able to provide a vehicle description and a description of the subjects involved.

Washoe County Sheriff patrol Deputies responded to the area and were able to locate the vehicle and suspects.

Both suspects have been booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges of possession of stolen property, petit larceny, and other drug related charges.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office commends the alert citizens who were able to notify them of this incident and reminds all citizens to notify law enforcement at the first sign of suspicious activity.
