SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – – Pathways for Wildlife, a local organization making roads safer for wildlife, are the next speakers at the South Lake Tahoe Library.

Founded by Wildlife Ecologist Tanya Diamond and Wildlife Researcher Ahíga Snyder in 2013, Pathways for Wildlife works with land trusts, conservation organizations, and transportation agencies to help identify how wildlife move through the landscape and across busy roads.  They’ve been doing extensive data collection around the Tahoe Basin and will show some of their extraordinary videos and photos collected from their field cameras. The field cams are placed at several culverts and known animal crossings in the basin. You’ll be surprised at what they’re finding under our roads!

The data from field cameras, roadkill surveys, tracking data and GIS habitat modeling will help them identify problem areas and initiate solutions. Find out how you can help with this project and make our roads safer for wildlife.

The Friends of the Library are hosting the free event on Tuesday, February 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd. All are welcome!
