SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The California Tahoe Conservancy holds its next meeting on Thursday, March 20 at 9:30 a.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College in the Board Room, L104.

The board will be hearing an item on the possible acquisition of a 2.61-acre parcel of land adjacent to the entrance of the Van Sickle Bi-State Park. The entrance to the park is currently over an easement from the property owner who is in the process of putting in condominiums at the site of the old Colony Inn behind what will soon be Target.

1.1 acres of the parcel in question is on environmentally sensitive land at 3828 Montreal Road, Assessment Number 029-441-003, and 1.5 acres is developable land. The purchase would also include 10,000 square feet of Class 1b coverage on 3794 Montreal Road An 029-720-007.

The agenda item will discuss the possible authorization of spending up to $1,730,000 for the land. This will secure the land being in the hands of the Conservancy and not a developer. The environmentally sensitive portion contains mountain meadow and stream environment zone habitat. The acquisition of 3828 Montreal Road will protect wildlife habitat, scenic resources, and water quality at the Park entrance from potential private development. The Conservancy will retire the coverage purchased from 3794 Montreal Road.

Also on the agenda:

Authorizing a grant of up to $500,000 to the City of South Lake Tahoe to complete environmental analysis and preliminary plans for the Regan Beach Enhancement and Accessibility Improvement Project.

Regan Beach Accessibility Project

Authorizing a grant of up to $90,000 to the North Tahoe Public Utility District to complete environmental analysis for the Secline Beach Enhancements Project.
