SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Since 1992, South Tahoe High and Mt. Tallac High graduating seniors have been treated to a night of safe and sober fun for the evening following graduation ceremonies.
The Grad Night team formed a 501(c)(3) to establish a norm for young adults that emphasizes celebrating without drugs or alcohol. Since the inception of Grad Night, statistics show that South Tahoe has not had any incidents, accidents, or fatalities involving seniors on graduation night!
FOR THE CLASS OF 2025
The celebration will be held at Heavenly’s California Base Lodge on Friday, June 13, from 9 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. With the efforts of the Grad Night team, countless volunteers, and an endless amount of hours, they transform the facility and create an event of a lifetime. If the community can prevent one drug or alcohol-related arrest, incident, injury, or death through this substance-free celebration, then the extensive effort of volunteers to plan, fund, and host this event will have been well worth all the effort.
Fundraising is underway to make sure all students can attend and spend the evening of their graduation, Safe and Sober. Each graduating senior who attends will enjoy a special, fun-filled, action-packed celebration of their achievements. The night will be filled with casino games, tarot cards, palm readers, caricature artists, face & body painters, Sharpie tattoo artists, Mock Rock, Minute-to-Win-it, a DJ, a Photo Booth, and a roaming magician. There are plenty of games for the graduates to enjoy, including corn hole, spikeball, foosball, and other table games. Outdoor activities include a climbing wall, sumo wrestling, obstacle course, velcro wall, and Ga-Ga-Ball. Plenty of pizza and an assortment of drinks are available for everyone, including the volunteers and vendors. For a midnight snack, sweet treats will be served. The evening will be wrapped up with an hour-long hypnotist-mind reader, which should not be missed by anyone. There will be multiple cash and prizes raffled throughout the night, with grand prizes at the very end. Senior parting gifts will be handed out to everyone as they leave the event.
