South Lake Tahoe workshop on coexisting with coyotes

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – As sightings of coyotes continue to increase in our neighborhoods, El Dorado County District V Supervisor Brooke Laine is hosting a free public workshop to educate residents on safe and effective ways to coexist with these wild animals.

The workshop is on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the South Tahoe High Theater, 1735 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.

The workshop will feature a presentation by former director of Sierra Wildlife Coalition and local wildlife expert, Toogee Sielsch. Toogee will share practical tips for reducing human-coyote conflict, protecting pets, and discouraging unwanted coyote activity.

Coyotes are an important part of our local ecosystem, and learning how to safely coexist with them is essential.

Topics will include:

-Managing food sources like trash, pet food, and compost
-Understanding coyote behavior and ecology -How to haze coyotes safely and effectively -Protecting pets and children

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
