NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of various lane closures due to the broadband installation project that is continuing on State Route 28 (SR 28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe next week.
The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities.
Utility work is scheduled at the following locations and times:
– Along eastbound SR 28 on Wednesday, June 25, from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Laurel Drive in Tahoe Vista and the State Route 267 junction in Kings Beach.
Please note that crews will be shifting around to various sections throughout the week with one-way traffic control in effect when necessary.
– Drainage work in preparation for the upcoming $31.7 million Caltrans pavement project on SR 28 is scheduled in both directions Sunday, June 22, through Thursday, June 26 from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. between Lake Forest Road (West) and Dollar Drive.
In addition, the Fanny Bridge at Tahoe City is scheduled for overnight closures Monday, June 23, through Thursday, June 26, from 7 p.m. until 9 a.m. During these closures, traffic will be detoured via Lake Boulevard to access State Routes 89 (SR 89) and SR 28. These closures are to assist with the installation of the dam diversion in preparation for the complete replacement of Fanny Bridge starting in August.
Motorists could encounter delays of up to 15 minutes between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR 28. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination.
All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
