SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a special weather statement for the Lake Tahoe Basin and surrounding area until 3 p.m. Tuesday. They said a strong thunderstorm will impact Alpine, El Dorado and Douglas counties.
At 2:30 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Mesa Vista, nine miles northeast of Carson Pass. It was moving northwest at 10 mph.
Wind gusts could be up to 50 mph because of the storm, with half-inch hail.
The storm warning is in place until 3 p.m.
