SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Join the UC Davis Master Gardeners and South Tahoe Public Utility District for a free garden tour in the Meyers area of the South Shore on Tuesday, July 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
No reservations are required.
The tour starts at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course, 2500 Emerald Bay Road, where participants will pick up a map for the educational self-guided tour.
When the tour is over, there is live music at an after-party at the golf course from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Food will be available for purchase from the restaurant.
Come for inspiration and education. There will be several beautiful and sustainable gardens on the tour with an emphasis on gardening for defensible space and home hardening from wildfire. The gardens will showcase water-wise techniques, edible gardens, and habitat and pollinator-friendly spaces. Educators will be on site to share defensible space tips and Tahoe-friendly gardening knowledge. The garden creators/hosts will be available to share the evolution of their gardens, trials, and successes. Carpooling is encouraged, and the tour is easy to visit by bicycle. The six gardens featured are within a 3.5-mile radius.
Support this tour and future events by donating to the UC Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe. Donations are welcome at the tour start and at the after-party location. Your donations support the mission of the UC Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe to provide research-based educational and quality programming to the community free of charge.
