EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – Tiffany Schmid, the El Dorado County chief administrative officer, submitted her resignation to the Board of Supervisors on Monday. Schmid was appointed to replace Don Ashton in June 2023 after being appointed the interim CAO three months prior.
Schmid came to work for the county in 2014 and was promoted to assistant CAO in November 2021. Previously she worked for 10 years as a planner for the California Department of Water Resources and Department of General Services.
“After 11 years of dedicated service to the County, seven of which have been executive leadership positions culminating as Chief Administrative Officer, it is time to focus on my family and friends who have been patiently supporting me,” said Schmid in a letter to South Tahoe Now. “I am honored to have worked with such an amazing group of people, proud of the important work we have accomplished, and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served the residents of El Dorado County.”
As per the terms in her contract, she is giving a 60-day notice.
