Long-time and generous supporter of the Bread & Broth Monday Meal, Janet McDougall, and three close friends, Peggy Borland, Flori Curran, and Kathy Maston, hosted the early evening dinner at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall on August 4.

Over the years, Janet has sponsored Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) because she believes in the importance of helping others through volunteering and financially supporting Bread & Broth in their mission to ease hunger for those in our community.

“As always, our team really enjoyed serving at the Bread & Broth Monday Meal,” shared Janet.  “It is such a well-run organization, and the cooks always prepare a wonderful feast”

At their Monday Meal, Janet and her crew served a lovely meal that included tri-colored chicken served over a buttered pasta, zucchini, a fresh fruit salad, and garlic bread, along with a variety of delicious dessert and drinks.  The servings for the 95 dinner guests were very generous but the meal was so tasty that 15 of the dinner guests came back for seconds.  For those unable to eat a second serving, another 25 meals were given out as ‘to go’s to be enjoyed at home.

The dinner guests are very grateful for the wonderful meals, the bags of nutritious food that they receive to take home, and for the warm and friendly atmosphere generated by their fellow diners, the Bread & Broth (B&B) volunteers, and the members of the hosting AAD crew.  That is why so many of the dinner guests come 3 to 4 times a month to the Monday Meal.

B&B is very grateful for the wonderful volunteers and AAD team members who come together to enrich the lives of their fellow neighbors.  According to Janet, Flori drove all the way from the North Shore to participate as one of the crew.   “We love interacting with the dinner guests that we are serving and get more out of the experience than they do,” added Janet.

Thank you to Janet and her amazingly dedicated crew for their help at the Monday Meal and to Janet for donating utensils to B&B and to the dinner guests.
