SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – There will be a few days that feel like Fall this week, with some late-summer temperatures back by next week. Expect breezy afternoon winds, midweek showers and t-storms, and much cooler temperatures this week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.
Winds will become breezy in the afternoons through Tuesday in response to the approaching low-pressure area. Southwest to west gusts peak around 25-30 mph today, increasing to 30-40 mph Monday afternoon. Locally enhanced gusts of 40-50 mph will be possible in wind-prone areas. Be prepared for wind impacts to travel and recreation early this week.
Our ongoing cooling trend continues through Wednesday and will yield
fall-like temperatures from midweek onward. Daytime highs will only
reach the 60s and 70s after Monday, with freezing overnight lows in
the Sierra around midweek.
