SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The next meeting of the South Lake Tahoe City Council takes place on Tuesday, September 23, starting at 5:30 p.m.

On the agenda:

Funding Agreement with the South Shore Transportation Management Association (SSTMA): Consideration of another one-year agreement with SSTMA to fund Lake Link, with the possibility of extending it to a three-year agreement. From Aug. 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025, 235,097 people road on Lake Link along the South Shore, a 15 percent increase from the previous year. The annual cost for the service is $2,111,415, with funding also coming from Douglas County and El Dorado County.

Policy Regarding Disposition of Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) Development Commodities Owned by the City of South Lake Tahoe: Council will revisit the disposition policy for discussion and to make recommendations on policy improvements to city-owned Tahoe Regional Planning Agency development commodities.

Grow and Diversify the Economy – Strategic Plan Priority Update: They will consider a motion directing staff to continue business outreach efforts, initiate the General Plan Economic Development Update process, continue efforts to reduce regulatory barriers to business investment, develop industry social media campaigns, and explore options to fund a facade/property improvement grant program and/or pre-development loan program.

Consideration of Paving Priority – James & Eloise Neighborhood vs. Johnson Boulevard: City Council direction is requested on whether to prioritize paving in James and Eloise neighborhoods or a Johnson Boulevard temporary overlay. There is a $3M budget for the James and Eloise areas (which would cost $10M to complete, so select streets would be addressed), or the temporary fix on Johnson, which has been promised for years. Both areas are needed, but funds do not exist.
