UPDATE: NWS Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Monday from noon to 8 p.m. Expect southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and waves 1 to 3 feet. Quick bursts of stronger winds and higher wave heights may also occur this afternoon as showers and thunderstorms develop.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Fall officially started last Monday, and the temperatures and forecast will be very fall-like in South Lake Tahoe. A strong low-pressure system in the region will bring additional showers and thunderstorms after Sunday’s widely scattered rain, even though initial predictions of a storm in the Sierra have lessened. There is also a chance for gusty winds and cooler temperatures through midweek. There is even a possibility of upper elevation snow on Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.
