LAKE TAHOE, Calif. –  California State Parks, in collaboration with Cal Fire, will be conducting understory prescribed fire operations on a 40-acre plot (see photo above) located within D.L. Bliss State Park beginning November 3, 2025, or when conditions allow. Management objectives include improving forest health and enhancing wildfire resilience within the Park boundary.

State Parks will be actively monitoring the burn day and night, through the week, and into the weekend until the fire is declared out. Smoke will be present throughout the operation and may be visible from Highway 89, and around the West and South shores of Lake Tahoe.

D.L. Bliss State Park remains partially closed to the public, with no vehicle access permitted. State Parks asks that visitors adhere to posted closure signage and any directions from park staff or fire personnel. Please use extreme caution when recreating near prescribed fire operations.
