SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) Superintendent Dr. Todd Cutler is now also serving as the acting director of Human Resources, the District announced Monday. The vacancy was created by the departure of the former director, John Simons.
A public records request did not reveal why Simons left, though Cutler said more details may be released in the next 30 days. LTUSD confirmed in the request that there is an ongoing investigation, and records at this time are exempt from release.
“In the interim, I will be stepping into the role of HR Director to ensure a smooth transition and to maintain continuity of support for our staff, families, and students”, said Dr. Cutler.
The previous superintendent, Dr. James Tarwater, served as LTUSD HR Director for a number of years before his retirement.
LTUSD said they are committed to a seamless transition and ensuring that HR operations continue without interruption. LTUSD will begin evaluating the department’s long-term leadership and will provide updates as soon as possible.
“Our priority is to continue supporting the dedicated educators and staff who make LTUSD a strong and thriving district,” Dr. Cutler added.
For questions regarding Human Resources during this transition, staff and community members are encouraged to contact the LTUSD HR Department directly at 530-541-2850 extension 1049.
