Bread & Broth was pleased to welcome Ascent, Inc. as the host for their first-ever Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsorship on Monday, November 10. By sponsoring a Monday Meal, Ascent, Inc. gained a valuable perspective on how its $350 sponsorship donation directly contributes to providing a restaurant-quality meal for dinner guests who came to St. Theresa Grace Hall to enjoy a free dinner and the company of fellow diners.
Ascent, Inc. is an interdisciplinary collaborative dedicated to helping clients with environmental and planning needs for urban design, including climate action and environmental stewardship. In addition to the local South Lake Tahoe office, the company also has offices in Sacramento, San Diego, Berkeley, and Irvine. At the Monday Meal, Ascent, Inc.’s sponsorship crew included local team members Nanette Hansel, Jan Evans, Jessica Mitchell, Kelley Kelso, and Kelley’s son Logan Kelso.
“This experience was fulfilling, and it felt really great to give back to our community,” shared Nanette. “It was wonderful to see that people have a place to come for a hot meal, and they can leave with healthy staples to stock their pantries.”
In addition to a hot dinner, guests also received bags of food. While some of the food items are donated by local stores and businesses, Bread & Broth (B&B) purchases the majority of fresh fruit, vegetables and dairy products to maximize the nutritional value of the food provided for meals later in the week.
Interfacing with the dinner guests is the rewarding part of participating as a sponsorship crew member. Nanette noted the “attendees were kind and incredibly polite and grateful.” Assisting with the dinner’s setup, serving, and cleanup also allows the Ascent, Inc. team to work alongside B&B volunteers, who are always thankful for the extra help from the AAD crew throughout the meal service.
Kudos to Ascent, Inc.. for contributing to efforts aimed at feeding the vulnerable members in our community and their commitment to helping protect our vulnerable Lake Tahoe environment.
