EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) Coroner Division has identified the two adults who died in a single-vehicle crash on US50 at Kyburz on Sunday, Dec. 7.
They are identified as husband and wife, Ryan Paul Rizzuto, 42, and Danielle Marie Rizzuto, 41, of Reno. Ryan was a battalion chief with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.
Fire departments from around the region participated in a procession through Reno on Wednesday. South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue sent an engine and battalion truck to participate and show their respect to Rizzuto.
The Rizzutos’ children, an 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, were in the car when it hit a tree and ended up on its side. They were flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno with major injuries on two different medical helicopters. Getting the kids out of the vehicle was a long process, with over an hour between the two transports.
