SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On Thursday, January 8, 2026, Councilmember David Jinkens formally administered the installation of the new officers to the South Lake Tahoe Republican Women Board as follows:

  • President: Bonnie Halleran
  • 1st VP/Programs: Karen Imhoff
  • 2nd VP/Membership: Lianne Peterson
  • 3rd VP/Press Communications: Terri Jinkens
  • 4th VP/Events: Cheri Watson
  • Recording Secretary: Kathleen Bailey (Recruiting)
  • Treasurer: Svetlana Raleigh

Councilmember Jinkens then gave a talk on the “State of the City.”  Councilmember Keith Roberts also spoke.  The two council members spoke on the following topics:

  • SLT City Manager Joe Irvin is leaving for the City of Malibu in early March.  The process for the recruitment was explained and will likely take six months to complete.
  • The city’s current Strategic Plan.  It is a tool to help guide the city in its priorities.  A new plan will be developed later in the year.  
  • Future Goals:  Annual road maintenance and repair plan; storm drainage master plan; living within our budget; no new taxes, fees, or charges; making it easier, less costly, and more user-friendly to make home or business improvements.
  • New Council Member Heather Horgan has been appointed to fill the vacancy.  Please welcome her and email her your concerns and priorities for the city.
  • Working with Senior, Inc. to maintain ongoing collaboration with this long-time service agency for seniors.
  • Transit System Improvements:  Heavenly launched a free shuttle system linking hotels and main stops to pick up guests to ski locations and other tourist spots.  Lake Link has been expanded.

The Republican Women of California – SLT meets most months on the second Thursday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.  The objectives of this organization are to support political education and activity and promote the principles and policies of the Republican Party.
