SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A transient currently living in South Lake Tahoe was arrested on January 10, 2026, after police said he refused to leave the Ulta Beauty store as they were preparing to close.

Andrew Glabek, 39, was camping out in the restroom, according to South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) Lt. Scott Crivelli. He said the suspect was cooperative, and they had him sit in a patrol vehicle as they sorted out what transpired. Once SLTPD told Glabek that he was going to jail, he reportedly became combative. Crivelli said the suspect started kicking at officers and inside the patrol car.

Glabek was on a two-year probation after pleading “no contest” in December 2024 on charges he started small fires in the Bijou Meadow. Terms of his probation included obeying all laws, following orders, and not having drugs or weapons in his possession.

Glabek was arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail on felony battery, obstruction and probation violation charges. His bail is currently $275,000.

He was arraigned on January 14, and his next hearing is on January 26.
