EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – The two deputies and the suspect involved in Thursday’s shooting in Camino remain hospitalized and are in stable condition as of Friday night.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) said its investigators and CSIs have completed processing the scene and have departed the area around Mountain View Drive.

“While documentation of the scene and collection of evidence are complete, the multi‑agency investigatory team will continue working to create a complete, unbiased, and accurate understanding of the events of the incident,” said EDSO on a Facebook post.

The investigation is still underway.

As of Friday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m., the suspect remains in the hospital receiving treatment and is in stable condition. The victim, a PG&E contractor, was treated at a local hospital and released on Thursday. Both deputies also remain hospitalized in stable condition.

“We appreciate the patience of the residents of Mountain View Dr. while this serious incident was being addressed. We would also like to thank everyone who heals the wounded, keeps the streets safe, and keeps the lights on in El Dorado County,” said EDSO.

At around 07:25 a.m. March 12, 2026, EDSO responded to a residence in Camino after a PG&E crew reported that they were shot at, with one employee injured. The type of injuries the crewmember received has not been disclosed.

Law enforcement, including deputies and a SWAT team, attempted to de-escalate the situation for approximately three hours when they became involved in the “officer-involved shooting.

The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, Placerville Police, and South Lake Tahoe Police are assisting EDSO in the investigation.
