LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Three games that saw Tahoe’s dogs come to the game for Pucks and Paws, to a festive St. Patrick’s Day celebration filled with green gear, the Tahoe Knight Monsters continue to provide lots of hockey action for fans even when wins are a bit elusive.
Wednesday – Knight Monsters Fetch a Win Against Mavericks on “Pucks and Paws Knight” – The Tahoe Knight Monsters defeated the Kansas City Mavericks for the first time this season by a score of 4-2.
In the first period, Tahoe started the game off strong, as Kevin Wall tapped in his 16th goal of the season, and Jake McGrew scored on the power play to make it 2-0 Knight Monsters. Kansas City would fight back, as their leading scorer Jackson Jutting found the back of the net and the Knight Monsters took a 2-1 lead into the second.
The Mavericks would score the lone goal in the second as Bobo Carpenter scored his 16th of the year to tie the game at 2. This marked Tahoe’s third straight game against the Mavericks that was tied entering the final period.
In the third period, it was McGrew scoring again on a rebound right in front of the net to make it 3-2, and Devon Paliani adding to his team lead in goals with his 26th of the season on an empty net, and the Knight Monsters started the home series with a 4-2 win.
Jordan Papirny played outstanding in net, stopping 33 of 35 Kansas City shots. This performance earned him Second Star of the Game.
Friday – The Luck of the Irish Sides with the Mavericks in 6-5 St Patty’s Showdown Against Tahoe – The Tahoe Knight Monsters, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights and the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, fell to the Kansas City Mavericks on home ice by a score of 6-5.
In the first period, Kansas City took the edge in the special teams battle as Casey Carreau scored a short-handed goal to get KC on the board 1-0. However, in the final two minutes, it was Tahoe who stormed back to take the lead, as Linden Alger scored his first professional goal, and Trent Swick scored his 20th of the season, and Tahoe took a 2-1 lead into the second.
The Mavericks gained the momentum in the second period, as they scored three unanswered goals from Bobo Carpenter, Jackson Berezowski, and Marcus Crawford to take a 4-2 lead into the locker room.
In the early part of the third period, the Knight Monsters clawed back as Connor Marritt, Kaelan Taylor, and Jake McGrew all scored goals in the opening six minutes of the frame to reclaim the lead at 5-4. In the end, the Mavericks would solidify their win as Landon McCallum and Lucas Sowder scored just eight seconds apart to give Kansas City a 6-5 win.
Saturday – Kansas City Takes the Series – The Tahoe Knight Monsters fell to the Kansas City Mavericks to conclude St Patty’s Weekend by a score of 8-1.
In the first period, Kansas City got off to a hot start, as they found goals from Jackson Berezowski, David Cotton, and Landon McCallum to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
In the second, the Mavericks continued their momentum as they added on to their lead with goals from Casey Carreau and Bobo Carpenter to go up 5-0 after the first two frames.
In the final frame, Devon Paliani got Tahoe on the board with his team-leading 27th goal of the season to make it 5-1, but Kansas City would add three more goals of their own thanks to Carpenter, Hudson Wilson, and Justin Janicke, as the Mavericks took home an 8-1 victory.
The Knight Monsters are back in action on the road next Friday, March 20, as they take on the Toledo Walleye. Puck drop is set for 4:15 pm PT, with pregame coverage on the Knight Monsters broadcast network beginning at 4:05 pm PT.
The Knight Monsters return home on Friday, March 27, 2026, to take on the Rapid City Rush at Tahoe Blue Event Center for the Marvel Knight. Puck drop is at 7:00 pm, with pregame coverage on the Knight Monsters broadcast network beginning at 6:50 pm.
The final Knight Monster’s home game for this season will be held on Saturday, April 4, against Cincinnati. Their final 2025/26 game is on the road on April 18.
