Every day throughout the winter, dedicated avalanche professionals from the Sierra Avalanche Center head into the mountains to study the snowpack and understand the hazards developing in our backcountry. Their work provides the foundation for the Sierra Avalanche Center’s free daily forecasts and observations that help keep our entire community safer.
