SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A car ended up in Lake Tahoe Monday morning after a driver was attempting to park it at Timber Cove Marina.

At approximately 8:42 a.m. April 27, 2026, South Lake Tahoe Police and Fire departments responded to the call. Upon arrival they found a Subaru completely submerged in the water.

According to police, the driver thought he had put the vehicle in park and walked away. A bystander called to him to alert him of the moving car, but he could not stop it before it rolled into the lake.

Firefighter Stuart Bogle swam out to the car to took it up to a tow truck line, and the vehicle was safely removed.

ot sure how this happened, but, fully submerged vehicle, unoccupied, SLTPD out with the driver, at Timber Cove Beach. SLTFR in route for possible hazmat containment/clean up.

Police and fire crews responded to a vehicle in the lake this morning near at Timber Cove Beach. There were no injuries reported. The cause of this incident is under investigation with SLTPD.
