My name is Nettie Pardue, and I am the Board President of South Tahoe Futbol Club (STFC) — a nonprofit youth soccer organization that has called South Lake Tahoe home since 1986. Every season, hundreds of kids from our community lace up their cleats and take the field at the Community Playfields at Lake Tahoe Community College. Those fields aren’t just grass and goals — they are where our kids learn teamwork, build confidence, and fall in love with the game. The soccer club provided over 20k in scholarships this past year to youth in our community who are passionate about playing soccer, but we need these fields to continue to provide outdoor spaces for our youth.

None of that happens without maintenance. Well-kept grass means more access to the fields, fewer injuries, and community-wide benefits.

It means a field that says to every child who steps on it: you matter, and this community invests in you.

That’s why I am asking every eligible voter in South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, and the surrounding South Shore to vote yes on Measure G on June 2.

Measure G is not a new tax. It extends the same modest assessment — $18 or less per year for residential property owners — that voters approved in 2000 and again in 2011. Without renewal, the funding expires in 2031, and there is no backup plan. Bike paths won’t get cleared of snow. Pickleball courts at Tahoe Paradise Park will deteriorate. And the playfields our kids count on will go without the upkeep they need.

I am voting for Measure G because our kids deserve fields worth playing on — and our community deserves to keep the outdoor spaces that bring us all together.

There is also community pride in our fields. These are some of the most beautiful fields in the surrounding area with Mt. Freel as a backdrop. When visitors come to our fields, we can proudly stand behind our fields.
