LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) continues its work on US50 from Stateline to Spooner Summer this summer. The schedule will be updated over the next week:

HOLIDAY WORKING HOURS: For the Memorial Day holiday weekend, work will conclude on Friday, May 22, at 8 a.m. and will resume on Tuesday, May 26, at 8 p.m.

SEASONAL REMINDERS: 24-hour work zones with single-lane closures begin on Sundays at 8 p.m. and conclude at noon on Fridays. Drivers can anticipate moderate travel delays through the work zone. Take it Slow Tahoe: speed will be reduced to 35 mph through work zones. While access to businesses and residences will be maintained continuously in most areas, certain side streets and driveways will be temporarily affected as roadway excavation takes place in the immediate area. Steel plates and earthwork will then be used after excavation to reestablish side street access.

PROJECT AREAS:

  • Through June 30, crews will be working on traffic signals and lighting from Zephyr Cove to Stateline with day and nighttime lane restrictions. Access to will remain open to businesses.
  • Crews have begun drainage work in the one-mile section of U.S. 50 from Round Hill to Zephyr Cove. This section was skipped last year to avoid any possible damage to the new pavement during the drainage improvements as part of the Nevada Tahoe Conservation District project at Bourne’s Meadow. Paving is anticipated to begin in this area mid-July (after the American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament).
  • Once the Bourne’s Meadow section is completed, work will begin on paving the remaining 7.5 miles just south of Cave Rock to Spooner Summit Trailhead.
  • Finalize remaining roadside curb and gutter from Cave Rock to Spooner Summit
  • Install with texture and colored concrete to replace existing guardrail.
