SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Celebrated photographer Ian Ruhter will be at the South Lake Tahoe Library on June 23 at 5:30 p.m. to share his unique vision and photo process.
After a career in Los Angeles, Ian returned to his hometown of South Lake Tahoe in 2010 and built a custom camera inside a truck, enabling him to produce images eight feet wide. He used a 19th-century process called wet plate collodion. His book, The Lake, is the culmination of over ten years of photographing the Tahoe area using this technique.
Ian Ruhter’s artwork has been collected and or commissioned by Gary Oldman, Cheryl Sandberg, Stewart Butterfield, Paul Sack, and Angelina Jolie, among others. His works have been exhibited in solo shows in New York and Los Angeles. His work has been shown at prestigious art fairs in London, Paris, Miami, the UAE, and Shanghai, and he has been a keynote speaker at multiple events. The South Lake Tahoe Library is honored to have him speak to our Tahoe Community.
The library is located at 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.
