DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – South Lake Tahoe Mayor Cody Bass was set to be sentenced Tuesday morning, but that was delayed so the court could respond to a request made by Bass’s attorney, Adam Spicer.
On August 13, in Tahoe Justice Court, Bass was found not guilty on a misdemeanor trespassing charge and guilty on the harassment charge during a bench trial with Judge Richard Glasson. Sentencing was to be Tuesday, Sept. 1, with Bass facing up to six months in jail, a $1,000 fine, or a combination of the two.
Spicer wants Cody to take the stand to respond to comments made by the witness in the bench trial. The lawyer said Bass did not make any threats to the victim in the case, a former bouncer at AleWorx at Stateline. The State’s closing arguments at the bench trial leaned on that fact.
The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office said the victim looks to a prompt closure in the case..
Spicer will prepare a statement and get to the court by Friday, and the District Attorney’s Office can then respond.
Glasson said he wants to make certain everything is presented to make certain justice is served.
Court is continued until 9 a.m. on September 15 in Tahoe Justice Court.
The case stems from September 25, 2025, when Bass was arrested following an incident at AleWorx that evening. Bass had been walking by the Stateline, Nev., bar when he got into an altercation with a bouncer outside the bar. He was charged with trespassing and harassment.
Bass is the current mayor of neighboring South Lake Tahoe and is not seeking reelection. His term expires in December 2026.
