SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. -Former South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tamara Wallace has her next court date scheduled in Sacramento on Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. before Chief U.S. Magistrate Carolyn K. Delaney.

According to documents filed in United States v. Tamara Le Ann Wallace on Thursday, September 24:

The United States requests that the Court set the above-referenced matter for the Court’s 2:00 p.m. calendar on October 13, 2026, for arraignment on the information filed on September 15, 2026. The parties have conferred and agreed upon October 13, 2026 as a mutually agreement date for the arraignment the United States Attorney charged Wallace with one count of wire fraud of $390,000.

On September 14, the United States Attorney’s Office charged Wallace with one count of wire fraud of $390,000.

If the judge agrees to today’s filing (and they will according to the US Attorney’s Office), Wallace will be scheduled to be arraigned on October 13, 2026.

At that time, a hearing will be set for Oct. 29 at 9:30 a.m. for a status conference and change of plea with Chief U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley.

The United States requests that the Court set the above-referenced matter for the Court’s 9:30 a.m. calendar on October 29, 2026, for a status conference/change of plea. The parties have conferred and agreed upon October 29, 2026, as a mutually agreeable date for a status conference/change of plea. The government has previously filed a memorandum (ECF No. 3) asking Chief Magistrate Judge Delaney to set the matter for arraignment on October 13, 2026.

At arraignment, defendants plead not guilty. Then they change their plea to guilty at the change-of-plea hearing.

In the United States versus Tamara Le Ann Wallace document, a total of almost $390,000 was embezzled from the church from “at least in or around April 2019 through in or around September 2025 through reimbursement checks made out to herself and electronic transfers to herself.” Wallace was the church’s bookkeeper. It states Wallace used the stolen funds for various expenses, including travel expenses and to pay rent on her home. Her fraudulent scheme nearly caused the church to shut down. The church was forced to reduce programming and take out several loans to pay expenses, pay late fees and interest on overdue bills.
