SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Tahoe Parks Foundation, in partnership with the City of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department, is launching the Recreation for Everyone Scholarship Program to help make City recreation programs, classes, and Recreation & Aquatics Center passes more accessible to residents.
The program will provide eligible South Lake Tahoe individuals and families with up to $200 in scholarship assistance for qualifying City recreation programs, classes, events, and Recreation & Aquatics Center pass products. Scholarships are funded by the South Tahoe Parks Foundation and awarded based on financial need and available funding.
“Recreation plays an important role in building healthy families, stronger connections, and a vibrant community,” said Jerry Bindel, chair of the South Tahoe Parks Foundation Board. “Through the scholarship program, we are proud to help reduce financial barriers so more South Tahoe residents can participate in the programs and facilities that make our community such a special place to live.”
Approved scholarship awards are valid for one year from the date of acceptance. Scholarship funds must be used during that period and cannot be transferred, refunded, carried over, or rolled into a future year.
Financial assistance is available to South Shore residents with a household income at or below 60 percent of the Area Median Income, based on household size. Applicants will be required to provide documentation to verify household income and financial need. Households experiencing exceptional financial hardship may also be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to available funding.
Scholarship funds may be used only for eligible City Parks and Recreation programs, events, classes, and Recreation & Aquatics Center passes. Scholarships may not be used for daily facility admission or facility rentals.
