PLACER COUNTY, Nev. – Placer County is not the area one would expect a surfing resort, but plans are moving forward for the area to be home to the Alchemy Surf Resort in the county’s new “Placer One” planned community in the west end of the county off I-80.
Inland Surf Company, the owner of the resort, aims to break ground in the spring of 2027.

During its Sept. 24 meeting, the Placer County Planning Commission gave the thumbs-up to the Alchemy Surf Resort by approving its tentative subdivision map, conditional use permit, and design review agreement and variance.
“Alchemy Surf Resort represents another step in the development of the Placer One area and adds a new recreational and hospitality use to the mix of uses planned for west Placer,” said Placer County Planning Director Chris Pahule. “The project has gone through the county’s planning and review process, and the approved plans provide a framework for the applicant to provide a unique recreational destination business to the community.”
The resort will be part of the larger Placer One development in west Placer County. Placer One is approved with a mix of residential, open space, schools, commercial, town center, businesses, parks, and other amenities along with the future Sacramento State Placer Center and a county forensics lab.
