Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort recently hosted two Bread & Broth Monday Meals through Adopt A Day of Nourishment sponsorships funded by Vail Resorts’ EpicPromise grant.
Kirkwood and its team members Melissa Boyden, Adam Donaldson, Alex Gordon, and Gordon Vizenor hosted the Monday Meal on September 28. After arriving, the Adopt A Day team helped Bread & Broth volunteers bag fresh fruit and vegetables and set up the food giveaway table. When dinner guests began arriving at 4 p.m., the team moved to the serving line. According to Melissa, the crew worked well together and had a lot of fun. “Today was fun, and it was great to help the community,” Melissa said. “We are blessed to give back and be a positive partner.”
At the following Monday Meal on October 5, Heavenly team members Brian Bigley, Alex McConnell, Ricardo Mendez, and Leopoldo Ojeda represented the resort as its Adopt A Day sponsor crew. They staffed the serving line, dishing out roast pork tenderloin with mushroom gravy, rice, green beans, roasted apples, and green salad. “Another great dinner in Grace Hall!” Alex shared. “We always love coming out to share great food and fellowship with our SLT community. It was a warm evening, but the menu tonight was hot!”
Heavenly and Kirkwood have sponsored Adopt A Day meals since the program began in 2011. The Vail Resorts EpicPromise grant funds 12 sponsorships each year, alternating monthly between the two resorts. Over the years, local team members from both resorts have brought generosity, energy, and practical help to the dinner events.
Many Vail Resorts team members return several times a year, contributing their time and effort to help others. “Always happy to be a part of this community meal and to see so many generous volunteers turning out for the community,” Adam said.
