SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for the Lake Tahoe Basin that will be in effect from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.

Expect winds from the east 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Waves could reach four feet.

There will be strong winds and rough waves on area lakes that will create hazardous conditions for small craft.

For the remainder of the weekend, dry conditions and light winds prevail, with a slow warm-up to near late October averages in the 60s for most areas by Sunday, according to NWS Reno. Nights will remain on the cool side with lows mainly in the 20s to lower 30s, and teens for Sierra valleys and typically colder low elevation sites.
