EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – El Dorado County is seeking three residents to fill vacancies on the Strategic Economic Enhancement Development (SEED) Committee, an advisory group to the Board of Supervisors on strategic economic development opportunities.

“We’re entering an exciting period of time with economic development opportunities and SEED’s contributions will be a valued component to the success of efforts to increase County revenue and opportunities for residents and visitors alike,” said Planning and Building Director Karen Garner.

While candidates can have any number of business sector experience, including biomass/sustainability, education, health care, retail, construction, technology, or housing, the County is particularly interested in residents with a background in agribusiness, recreation, tourism, and wineries.

“Ideally, we’d like to have representation from those sectors, but we’re really interested in residents who are committed to serving the County and eager to work with us to move the economic development needle,” Garner added.

The Board of Supervisors recently approved SEED’s Economic Implementation Plan and expects to explore opportunities including Tourism Business Improvement District(s) to organize and help fund Countywide tourism efforts, provide assistance with Ag Lodging and low-impact camping outreach efforts, and increase business vitality and promotion.

The Committee meets on the third Thursday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in Placerville. Candidates are appointed to two-year terms. Interested candidates should submit an application with their specified sector(s) experience, which will be reviewed by the Planning and Building Department’s Economic Development Division and then forwarded to the Board for appointment.
