29th annual Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day

Join Keep Tahoe Blue for a hands-on restoration project at Johnson Meadow on Lake Tahoe’s south shore on September 26.

As a volunteer, you’ll help with willow staking and other restoration tasks that stabilize the stream bank, strengthen riparian habitat, and prevent further erosion. Work may also include removing terrestrial invasive species under staff guidance.

This is a fun, hands‑on restoration event open to volunteers of all ages and skill levels. You’ll work alongside restoration professionals and fellow volunteers to make a meaningful impact on a Lake Tahoe watershed. No prior experience is required—tools, training, and support will be provided. Come prepared to get a little dirty and help restore a healthier, more resilient stream ecosystem.

Volunteers will choose a project during check-in.

Timeline:

9 am – 12 pm – Volunteers will work on their chosen restoration project.

12 – 1 pm – Lunch for volunteers and partners. Everyone will come back together to celebrate all the hard work completed! The celebration will include:

Giveaways

What to bring: Sturdy boots/closed-toed shoes (tall waterproof boots or waders if you have them), long pants that can get dirty, sunglasses, work gloves (if you have them), a full reusable water bottle, and any special snacks you may want.

We provide: Project equipment, gloves and other safety gear, training, drinks, snacks, lunch and giveaways.
